Frequently Asked Questions
1.
Why are free-range eggs better?
They are a natural product with animal welfare taken into consideration.
Some of our older customers say they haven’t tasted an egg like
it for years!
2.
Why are free-range eggs and chicken more expensive?
Free-range poultry farming is very labour intensive and time-consuming.
There is a lot of work involved in letting the birds out,
shutting them up, managing fences and dealing with the threat of
predators. Small units need
to be mucked out manually rather than by machine.
Finally, our chickens are 5-6 weeks older than battery birds
which involves more cost.
3.
What does ‘free-range’ mean exactly?
Our sales tag is ‘When we say free-range, we mean free-range’.
All our birds have free access from 7.30 a.m. until dusk to our
entire property which consists of natural woodland with lots of
different plants, shrubs and trees providing shade as well as a stream.
We are always happy for new customers to take a look.
Our farm is visible from the road and you can see the birds
ranging!
4.
Isn’t it unkind to leave them outside in bad
weather?
Ducks and hens don’t seem to mind cold or rain though windy weather
sometimes affects them. The
pop-holes are always open and there is plenty of natural shelter.
They simply wouldn’t lay eggs like they do if they weren’t happy
and content.
5.
Where can I buy your eggs and poultry?
We sell to local farm shops and pubs but we feel that Warwickshire and
other nearby Farmers’ Markets are a great shop window.
We attend Farmers’ Markets at Stratford-upon-Avon,
Bulk orders can be bought directly from the farm and can be ready for
collection on Friday or Saturday with a few days’ notice.
6.
Do you deliver?
Yes, by arrangement on minimum orders.
